There is a host of activities available in and around El Capistrano and Nerja, besides enjoying the Pools and Beaches. Here are a few suggestions.
Horse Riding - Horses may be hired by the hour or by the day at the Cortijo Hidalgo just outside Nerja on the way to Frigiliana.
Tennis - The Tennis Club with bar and restaurant is close to the entrance to El Capistrano Village. Courts can be rented by the
hour, and rackets and balls are available for hire.
Aquaparks - There are 2 water parks close to Nerja; Parque Acuatico Aquavelis in Torre del Mar and Parque Acuatico Aquatropic at Almunecar.
Diving - There is a diving centre, the Club Nautique, in Almuñecar. There is also a diving facility on Burriana beach.
Skiing -
Sierra Nevada (Sol y Nieve). Nerja can boast skiing in the morning and swimming in the sea in the afternoon!
Golf -
There are currently three golf courses easily accessible from Nerja and a further is planned at Torrox, just along the coast.
Baviera Golf. Baviera Golf is located below the foothills of the Sierra de la Almijara about 15 mins drive from Nerja. It opened for play in 2002. Golfers will enjoy both mountain and sea views whilst playing this course. Designed by 4 time Ryder Cup member Jose Maria Canizares, Baviera features wide undulating fairways and large, fast greens with varying slopes. The course is of moderate difficulty and would appeal to all range of golfers.
Anoreta Golf. Anoreta Golf Course is a parkland course, designed by Jose Maria Canizares. His design offers the golfer a good challenge. Water is a major hazard and is featured at eleven of the holes. The fairways are lined with semi-mature trees. One can appreciate great sea views from several of the holes. 30 minutes drive from Nerja. There are many other challenging courses in and around
Malaga within an hour's
drive.
Moriscos Golf. This course is at Motril some 40 minutes drive east along the coast. It lies of the eadge of the beach and has 2 x 9 hole courses.
Excursions - places of interest within easy reach include the Caves of Nerja and Maro, Competa, Frigiliana.
Further afield - The Alpujarras, Cordoba, Gibraltar, Granada, Jerez, Malaga, Ronda, Seville.
Culture - Nerja boasts a good cultural centre with exhibitions, plays and concerts throughout the year. The largest of the caverns within the Caves of Nerja makes a spectacular setting for ballet and musical productions.
